Pontiac Repair: fuel problem?, vacuum leak, pontiac transport

Question
i'm having a problem with a 94 pontiac transport 3.8. it doesn't want to stay running, almost every time i come to a stop the rpms fluctuate between 0-1500 then it dies. do you have any suggestions that might help me stay running for more than just one stop sign to the next?

Answer
Hey  Brice:

A few ways to go with this. Has any service engine soon light come on? My guess is it's either a vacuum leak or an issue with the idle control motor. that engine has quite a few vacuum lines on it take a look around and see if you see any that fel off or are cracked or split. there are 2 up by the alternator that run from the engine to the right side of the van those had a tendency to break due to the engine movement back and forth. The other thought is the idle control motor may be sticking or is dirty along with a dirty throttle bodyand plate. you may want to take the idle control motor off the engine and clean it up along with the throttle body. If that's not it then ther could be an issue with the way the engine is trying to control idle motor. corroded engine grounds for the computer are a likely cause. ther are a few on a stud under the ignition module and ther are some on the transmission to engine mounting bolts take a look at them and give then  a tug if any of them break you may have found the problem. That is a place to start. Without the aid of an engine scan tool that is really all that you are going to be able to do. good luck :}
