Pontiac Repair: 1997 Grand Prix Wiper Assembly, wiper assembly, winter time

Question
The wiper assembly is parking (stopping) 90 degrees out when turned off. When turned on they return to the bottom and then strat their normal cycle.

Answer
Hi Dave:

Either the park arm has broken or the tab that the park arm rides on the wiper transmission has bent. This happens most of the time when the wipers are turned on in the winter when they are frozen to the window or the there is a lot of snow on the window. The extra stress on the arms either bends or breaks the parts. It's a pretty in expensive fix and VERY common in the winter time at least where I live.
Good luck :}
