Question
hello i own a 92 pontiac grand am 3.3 litre it runs fine till it reaches operateing temperature and then it shuts down and will not start back up for about an hour and then runs fine again till it gets warmed up i checked the fuel system and everything is fine so then i checked for fire or spark after it shut down there was no spark so i started messing with sensors the sensor i messed with that gave it spark was right behind the water pump on the front of the motor please let me know what that sensor is called

Answer
Hi Robert:

The sensor you are refering to is the cam sensor. That should not make it stall. it will make it run funny and stuble when running. you may have an issue in the wire harness when you have no spark do you also loose injector pulse? you need a noid light or computer friendly test light to check for injector pulse. if you do not have pulse either the my guess would be and ignition module or a crank shaft position sensor. the crank sensor is behind the harmonic balancer. That it a more likely cause than anything else. good luck :}
