Pontiac Repair: Need help to fix my heater, blower motor resistor, pontiac grand prix

Question
Hi,
I have a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix and my heater fan just stopped working. It would come on and then shut off, now the fan doesn't come on at all. I checked the fuses and looked for some tips in the manual but could not resolve the problem. I was hoping you had some idea's. Thank you

Answer
Hi Rhonda:
It's one of 2 things. eithet the blower motor resistor burned out or the motor stopped working all together. The motor is under the glove box onm the right side of the dash board after you remove that bottom cover unplug the motor and use a 12 Volt test light between the black and purple wires with the fan on high and the key on the test light should shine bright. and with the lower speeds it should be dimmer and dimmer if so the motor is bad. If not then more than likely you will have to trace the power loss backards from the motor the resistor could be bad but on those older ones not that often. Good Luck and happy holidays.
