Pontiac Repair: 2000 Grand Prix, blower motor shuts off, windshield wipers, fog lights

Question
Hello Todd, I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT with about 75000 miles. Had the heat on a medium setting and the blower motor on high (5) blowing onto the windshield. Also running headlights, fog lights, stereo, windshield wipers on low. The blower motor shut off abruptly. No other accessory failed at that moment. Turned it to the off setting and tried again after about 4-5 mins. It worked again, and continued working for the remainder of the trip. Any idea what could have caused it to shut off like this? Is this an indication that i need to replace something?

Answer
Hey Dave:
well you have to catch it wne it cuts out to see if you have power to the motor or not. It could be a bad motor but I doubt it. you can check to make sure that they is not any water inside the motor. pull the cover down under the bottom of the right side of the dash and you will see the motor it's under the glove box. If it looks rusty or it has water dripping out of it there is a water leak into the heater box that you have to fix. You could also have a blower resistor that's going bad there is a relay inside of that the runs speed #5 that could be going bad or it could ave water in it as well. Just a place to start looking. good luck :)
