my car smells like gas when turn on the heat

that's not good. you have some sort of a fuel leak. If you smell it then it's vaporized already which makes it easier to ignite. This is not a good thing if it's really strong I would not drive it at all get it towed to a repair shop to get it looked at. even if it's not that bad I still wouldn't drive it. good luck :)
