Pontiac Repair: 1997 grand am inner tie rod replacement, inner tie rod, oppisite side

Question
Being from the old school , I am looking for help on how to change the inner tie rod end on my 1997 Pontiac Grand Am - 3.1 motor .

Answer
Hey Dan:

It's a bit difficult on a V6 engine. you have to remove the safety cage over both bolts first and then loosen the bolt from the oppisite side end you are replacing and then take the bolt out of the side you are going to replace. there is a big washer that goes across both ends at the rack and if you don't loosen the other side bolt you will not be able to get it out. other than that not much else hard about the job. Jack up the side of the car you are replacing the end on it makes it easier to wiggle it out when the wheel is not loaded up from the weight of the car. When your all done make sure you put that safety cage back on the bolts! Good luck :)
