Pontiac Repair: passenger side electric window 99 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunbird, pontiac sunfire

Question
QUESTION: 1999 pontiac sunbird passenger side electric window will not rollup. window motor clicks when switch depressed to roll down. No click when switch depressed to rollup. your probable answer, replace window motor. My question, how do I get the window up to secure contents of car while waiting for motor replacemenet?

ANSWER: Hi Lynn:
If you don't hear anything when you try to roll the window up but you do when rolling it down it may just me a switch issue. if the motor works down then it should up the only difference is that the polarity of the power to the motor is switched. You may have a bad window regulator not allowing the motor to roll up it may be bent. There is no way get the window up if it doesn't work electrically. good luck :)

QUESTION: Thanks for your quick response. I checked the switch as well as the the connection at the motor and power is being delivered. I am now in the process of removing the motor for replacement. I have removed the three or four rivets that are visible in order to remove the motor, but the motor is still attached somehow. Is there possibly a rivet or other attachment behind the door handle or elsewhere? Again thanks for your help!!

Answer
It depends on wether it's a 2 door or a 4 door. I think the 2 door has an extra rivot that holds the motor it's self to the door and ther are 2 bolts that hold the regulator to the door and then 2 nuts that hold the glass to the regulator. After that you should be good to go.
