Pontiac Repair: 2001 Sunfire - HVAC Problem, amp fuse, fuse box

Question
Hi Todd,
I have no power going to the Heating/Cooling controls, including the Rear Window Defroster.  I found that the 10 Amp. fuse had blown.  I replaced the fuse but as soon as I turn the heater on it shuts off again - blowing the fuse.  Any idea what the problem might be?  Thanks for your response, cause it's getting cold outside.

Answer
Hey Brian:

well youhave a short some where. if the fuse doesn't blow untill you turn on the blower then you have a short between the hvac control unit and the blower motor it's self.  try this unplug the blower motor and try it again. if it blows then the problem is not the blower motor it is between between the blower resistor and the hvac control head. it could be pinched or chafed wires. If the fuse only blows when the fan is turned onto the high setting you could have an issue with a blower motor relay which is under the hood in the fuse box. Just a few ideas. Good luck :)
