Pontiac Repair: sunfire, 2002 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire

Sorry I'm a girl and I know nothing about cars.  I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and it is making a clicking noise when we brake.  We took it in and the mechanic says it has something to do with the transmission and to take it to transmission specialty shop.  Do you think this could be an overhaul or a minor problem within the tranny??  Or does the clicking noise have anything to do with the transmission??

I cannot think of anything I have eperienced similar to what you describe.
If it does it ONLY while braking, I would recommend taking it to ANOTHER shop and getting a second opinion. Dont tell this shop what was already diagnosed.... see if they come up with same diagnosis.
If so, youi may then consider a trip to a tranny shop.
