Pontiac Repair: remote start A/C wont turn on, ambient air temperature, grand prix gt

Question
QUESTION: I am purchasing 2007 Grand Prix GT with dual auto climate control. I have driven two and the dealers are clueless. Neither remote start would turn on the A/C. With out that or heat the option is basically worthless. Can you help me understand how to program the car/remote/what ever to make the heat and A/C turn on with remote start?
Thanks, Mark

ANSWER: Hi
I am kinda suprised...... well maybe not  LOL
It is "automatic" to an extent.... meaning

If OUTSIDE ambient air temperature is 90*F or HIGHER the and a remote start is made..
The Blower comes on HIGH
The MODE is on VENT
The TEMP is on FULL COLD
The Compressor is ON
The Riciruc is on RECIRCULATE
and the defrost is OFF

If the outside temp is LESS than 90*F but GREATER than 37*F
then....
The Blower is set at AUTO
the Mode is AUTO
the Temp is at AUTO
the compressor is AUTO
the recirc  door position is on AUTO
Defroster is OFF

If the Outside temp ib 37*F OR below, then....
Blower is on HIGH
Mode is on DEFROST
Temp is on FULL HOT
Compressor is OFF
Recirc door is on OutSide Air (OSA)
and the defrost is ON

There it is..
There is a GM Bulletin # PIC3780C (Doc. ID # 2029762)
if you want to ask any of them to print this out for you.

There ALSO is a bulletin for reprogramming the HVAC control head for INOPERATIVE during a Remote Start (RVS).
Bulletin # is 07-01-39-001 (Doc. ID #1887095)
I Hope this helps
Please if you get one, enjoy it.. they really have few major problems I have run into. They are nice cars..
Good Luck

QUESTION: Pawl,
Thank you so much. Very strange that 2 of these vehicles the AC did not come on and at least in the first instance it was way above 90. The climate control just sat there dark and doing nothing after the remote start.

So it is all automatic and there is no program or selection that needs to be made to activate the AC heat on with remote start?

Very through, thank you very much.
Mark

Answer
Hi
The only way it will not be automatic, is if the HVAC system is NOT auto HVAC (Rpo code = CJ2). If it is CJ2, aka NOT auto air, the between 90* and 37* would all default to the Last setting when key off.
So no, there is no way to "program" it like for the next morning, etc...
I Hope this helps.
