Pontiac Repair: replacing a cracked exhaust manifold, exhaust manifold studs, pontiac grand prix

Question
Hey, I need to replace a cracked exhaust manifold on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (3.8L V6 w/ 4 spd Auto).  All in all it looks pretty simple, and I think I can handle the repair myself, but I'm wondering if there are any tips or tricks that will help me out with this, or anything in the way that might give me trouble.  thanks.

Answer
Hi
Here is the procedure for the FRONT (left) manifold....

Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Remove the left engine lift hook nut and bolt.
Remove the left engine lift hook.
Remove the left side spark plugs.
Remove the exhaust manifold bolt and studs.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.

And here is the procedure for the REAR (right) manifold.

Remove the EGR inlet pipe from the exhaust manifold.
Remove the EGR mounting bracket bolts.
Remove the EGR mounting bracket.
Remove the heated oxygen sensor lead.
Remove the fuel injector sight shield mounting bracket nuts.
Remove the fuel injector sight shield mounting bracket.
Remove the right engine lift hook nut and bolt.
Remove the right engine lift hook bracket.
Remove the upper right exhaust manifold heat shield.
Remove the lower right exhaust manifold heat shield.
Remove the exhaust manifold studs.
Remove the exhaust manifold.
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.

I Hope this helps
Good luck
