Pontiac Repair: car doesnt start, pontiac firebird, purple wire

Question
I have a mannual transmission 95 Pontiac Firebird. It doesn't start everything else turns on and when I press on the clutch to start it, it doesn't. What does it mean when it does that?

Answer
Hey Juan:
It could be a something a simple as bad starter motor assembly. But it could also be other things. like a clutch safety switch to something with the factory security system. First off check to see if you have power on the purple wire at the starter motor assembly when the the key is turned to crank. If you do then it's a bad motor if no power then you have to trace it back to where the power is being lost either from the security system or for the clutch switch or the ignition switch... There are a lot of pieces that are involved with cranking the car.. Good luck.
