Pontiac Repair: 2002 Pontiac Sunfire Fuel Problem, 2002 pontiac sunfire, pontiac sunfire

Question
Think I need to replace the pump. Had intermittent problem where car wouldn't re-start a few minutes after being shut off after it had run fine. Now it won't start at all. When trying to start, runs for only about a second. Have to wait several hours for it to do that again. No noise from the pump when trying to start. Relay appears to be working. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hey Mike,
You are more than likely on the righ track. When it does dy or will not start try 2 things tap on the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet and see if it start sometimes it jars the pump enough and it will run. If not check the power and ground wires to the pump in the connector sticking out of the floor board for power and grouns wen it will not start. have someone crank the engine while you check this the wires are a big grey wire 12V and a big black wire Ground. Make sure you check the car side of the connector NOT the pump side.
