Pontiac Repair: 1996 Pontiac Grand-AM hard starting, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum line

Question
1996 Pontiac Grand-AM with 2.4L 4-cylinder engine
This car has gotten a little harder to start in the last several months; seems to take a few more seconds to get running than it used to. Cranks ok and runs ok, but a little rough for the first few seconds after getting started. Have about 85,000 miles. New fuel filter a year or so ago, but have not changed PCV valve. Have run some fuel injection cleaner through and seemed to help some, for a while.

Answer
Hi
First, I would recommend a full major tune up
Plugs, plug boot kits, fuel filter, air filter.
Check the fuel pressure regulator, located on the fuel rail (it has a vacuum line running to it)
Take off the vacuum line and if there is ANY evidence of gas, it needs replacement.
Check fuel pressure. There is a filter in the tank (Sock Filter), but I would not worry about that unless you prove the fuel pump is faulty.
Just maintance to try first before digging deeper.
I Do hope this helps.
Good Luck
