Answer
Hi
Does it show anything at al (Full all the time, Empty all the time, half all the time, does it move at all, or is it just inaccurate?) There is a fuel level sensor in the tank. Wiring connects it to the PCM. The PCM sends the fuel level data to the IPC (instrument cluster).
I would say I have replaced more sensors in tank than any other thing EXCEPT- This condition may be due to water leaking into the interior of the vehicle, and/or spread terminals, at connector C305 that is located on the floor to the rear of the driver's seat. This connector is not sealed from the inside of the vehicle and water may enter the connector causing the terminals to become corroded. Also, the female terminals of the connector may have become spread apart causing an intermittent poor connection.
This connector problem CAN cause your condition.
I would tell you to take vehicle to a repair shop your familiar with, and get them to check the Sensor resistance, and check the wire connector located almost under the driver seat.
Just suggestions from experience
I hope this helps
Good Luck
