on a 1994 pontiac sunbird 2.0 what would be the fuel pressure while the car is running? this car is hard to start of the morning . stalls on a idle after you get it started It has a new fuel pump! i have noticed when you turn the car off the fuel pressure goes to 0 should it keep a pressure on the gauge after its turned off ?  thanks

Hi. with the key on engine stopped, there should be approximately 35 to 38 psi, if it don't hold this pressure, then it would be the fuel perssure regulator.   ARE THEY A RETURN REGULATOR IN THE TANK HAYNES MANAUL SPEAKS OF IT BUT THAT IS ALL I CAN FIND OUT. SO WHAT YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT IT SHOULD BE 35 TO 38 WHEN THE KEY IS ON. WHY DOES IT GO TO  0 LBS WITH THE KEY OFF IS THAT NORMAL? YOU HAVE TO TURN THE KEY OFF IN ON 2 TO 3 TIMES TO GET FUEL PRESSURE UP BEFORE IT WILL START OF THE MORNING

Answer
yes it should have pressure, do this check, with the engine running the pressure should drop 3 to 10 psi, detach the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator, the pressure should immediately increase between 3 to 10 psi, if the pressure doesn1t rise when the hose is disconnected the regulator is faulty.
