Pontiac Repair: I have a 95 Pontiac Sunfire..., pontiac sunfire, water gauge

I have a '95 Pontiac Sunfire and I'm having a problem with my car stalling. At times, every once in awhile, it won't give any acceleration when I press the gas. Usually when this happens the water gauge is usually high, close to 264. Could you possibly tell me what the problem could be? I have had a diagnostic test on it but the mechanic said that there wasn't a problem with it. Another mechanic supposedly put another fuel pump in it but I'm not positive that he did.

Hi, for one thing the temperature is to hight, and thats why it's stalling, replace the thermostat, make sure that the fan is coming on, check the belts, make sure that they are tight, check for leaks, the temperature should run around 190 to 200. If it has not had a tune, give it one.
