Pontiac Repair: 1996 Pontiac Bonneville blower and heat, pontiac bonneville, vacuum problem

Question
Wayne,
When you push the select button/switch the display cycles between defrost/vent/panel etc but air blows out of any of the options anytime. It could be showing vent but it actually blows out of defrost etc. Reading other replies this looks like it could be a vacuum line problem?

Secondly, the heat barely works, air comes out at full force (out of whichever opening it chooses per above!) but it doesnt get more than barely warm even with the digital display set at 90 degrees, if you set the display to 85 degrees or less it sends out only cold air. I had the car in and they replaced the thermostat and said that the problem was fixed but it has not helped at all. The engine heat gauge shows temps between 180 and 200 degrees.

thanks
Barry

Answer
Hi, this is a vacuum problem to, There is a door over the heat core, that opens and closes, and when you push the the select for the heat, the door is not opening  like it should. check all the vacuum lines, there are vacuum lines under the hood that can come loose or brake, that can cause the problem you are having. Theses are small vacuum lines and can brake easy.
