Pontiac Repair: 1989 Pontiac Grand Am 2.5 liter engine, spark plug wires, vacuum leaks

Question
I got a free 1989 Pontiac Grand Am from one of my dads friends, and the reason why i got it was because the # two piston was not firing, he changed the spark plugs and the spark plug wires, and he said that he did a compression check and said that it was ok 2, so he gave up on it and gave it to me, so what could be the problem?

Answer
Just because he changed the plugs and wires does not mean that you are getting spark. You could have a bad coil pack or ignition module. Check to see if you are getting spark to each of the cylinders first. If you are, check for vacuum leaks. It shouldn't be a fuel problem since it has one injector that feeds all 4 cylinders.
Also, cylinders 2 and 3 use the same coil pack. So just because the miss is on #2, it can be a problem in #3 cylinder.
