Pontiac Repair: 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, pontiac grand prix, lock cylinder

I have trouble with my shift lock.  I cannot get my key out of my ignition and shift the car into drive with-out using the shift lock button.  Is there something I can do to rectify this situation?  Thank you for your help!

Yes, there is something you can do, Fix it. The problem is usually with the lock cylinder but not always. I'm sorry but I can not explain the diagnostic proceedures to you because they can be very lengthy. You could either try a new lock cyl. or have it professionaly diagnosed.
