Porsche Repair: bushings, polyurethane bushings, metal surfaces

Question
hello Dave,
can u please tell me what do u think about polyurethane bushings?...im thinking to make some bushings for sway bar at my dad's workplace..thanks

Answer
Hi, good to hear from you.  You're going to make them yourself?  That's pretty good.

I'm not much of an expert on Polyurethane.  I believe they are a huge improvement over rubber... but sometimes people using them on the street can complain they are too harsh AND they squeal when there's any movement in their mounting locations...polyurethane rubbing against the adjacent metal surfaces.  That's why someone's starting using graphite impregnated polyurethane bushings.  The graphite apparently provides "lubrication" to cut down or eliminate the noise.
