RV Repair: range hood wiring, inline fuse, fuse holder

Question
I have a 1996 skyline nomad camper. The range hood quit working so i replaced the motor. I found what looked like an inline fuse on the ground wire ( white wire). When I bypass the inline fuse or maybe heat detector of some sort the fan will work. My Question, is this necessary and has to be replaced or can I bypass this part out.

Answer
That part may be a fusible link.  It may have fried internally.  You can run without but should not.  You could visit your local auto parts store and buy an inline fuse holder.  Wire that in the same as the fusible link was.  Then you can change the fuse in this holder when it blows.  Read the label on the side of the range hood that tells you how many amps you need to run it.  Then buy a fuse holder and fuses that size.  They have nice neat ways of making electrical connections too, that don't look hideous.
