RV Repair: Difference between 15, 30,and 50 amp?, electrical cord, travel trailer

Question
I'm so confused on this stuff. I have just bought a used travel trailer and it has an electrical cord of 30 amps but the plug on the end is 15 amps. I was told I would have to change the 15 amps plug to a 30 amp before I was to go camping at a campground so I could run my A/C. Are there adapters or should I just change the whole thing? I don't want no surprises on our first camping trip.

Answer
Lamar, It would depend on the size of wire your plug is on. If it looks like the original wire then I would put a 30 amp end on it. You will need to have good power supply to work the ac. I don't know of any 15 amp end that would fit on the factory wire but they may have been able to do this. I hope this helps, Bill
