RV Repair: Water heater, blue flame, bottom side

Is it normal for the water heater door to become very hot while water is being heated?

Rj, This can happen but usually doesn't because it vents out the top side of the door. The bottom side is where the flame is and you should check to see that it is a good blue flame with yellow tips. You should hear a slight roar when it is on. You may also want to check the L.P. pressure. Thanks, Bill
