RV Repair: Dometic Refrigerator, electric refrigerator, control knobs

Question
I have a Dometic 2610 gas/electric refrigerator that was working fine until I defrosted, then the electric part did not work. The gas continued to work fine.  My question is: Is it possible for something to be wrong with the thermostat that breaks the current for the electric but works for the gas component.  The electric heating element works fine.  I have current going into the thermostat switching unit but not coming out. I can see no other place for a malfunction.
Thanks,
Glen

Answer
Glen, I am not sure of all models of dometic right off the top of my head, but if you only have one control for both the electric and gas then it is not the T-Stat but something else. If this refer has buttons on the top to turn it on then it will have the power board in the rear. I am assuming that you checked it with an ohm meter and that it does ohm out. If this refer has the controls inside towards the bottom and has 2 control knobs, one for gas and the other for electric then it could very well be the T-Stat for the electric side. The good news is that it is in the electronics and not the cooling unit. Let me know what you have and I can walk you through exactly what needs to be checked so you can get it running right again. Thanks, Bill
