RV Repair: RV Slideout, shaft assembly, palomino

Question
I have a 25 ft Palomino Puma travel trailer with a slideout in the living room area. The slide out will not go out nor when it was out the last time it would not come back  in. The motor was running but the slide out had to be pushed along by hand. I was able to get it back inside by pushing it in along with help from a few other people. Can you give me any advice?

Answer
Charles, Is this living room slide a big slide or a small slide. By that I need to know if the motor is inside the coach or under the coach and then try to see what the slide out is using to go in and out. If you can hear the motor running but nothing is happening then something in the gear drive has come apart. Possibly a gear stripped or a sheer pin broke at the motor or shaft assembly. If this slide is small and run from the inside you will need to look under the couch and see if the gear box may have broke there. Think of it this way, the motor runs so something else has to be stopping it from working. You will want to look at the operation while you have someone push the switch from the inside. That is the best way to see what happens. Thanks, Bill
