RV Repair: plumbing, heater valve, preasure

Question
How do I know if my bypass valves for the water heater are in the right position? I think they're three way valves. The pump keeps running and there are no leaks. The water preasure may be a little low.

Answer
Mel, The best way to explain this is the water heater valve that is in between the 2 outer valves should be closed and the other ones open. This doesn't usually cause the pump to continue running. The pump may have been through a freeze and gone bad. It may also be pulling air from the tank and not allowing it to pressure up. Try hooking to city water and check for leaks. But if the pump doesn't shut off it is usually the pump, unless you have a water leak somewhere that you are unable to see. Pressure up on the city water side and if you have no hose leaks turn the water off and wait awhile and go in and turn on a faucet to see that it still has pressure. If so then you shouldn't have leaks and you will want to replace the pump. Oh one thing, you don't need the pump on when hooked to city water. It pulls water from the fresh water tank "ONLY" and is not an assist for the city water. I am not saying you don't know this but sometimes things are explained wrong when you but them. Thanks, Bill
