RV Repair: Digital Thermostat, digital thermostat, hydro flame

Question
I just replaced my old Hydro-flame 8500-II furnace with a new Atwood 2-Stage Excalibur XT model 2334. The wire diagram for the new thermostat shows connections for 12v+ / 12v- / & th-from furnace. The old thermostat only has two wires red & white, Do I need to provide a separate 12v power supply to the digital thermostat? If so then how should I connect the thermostat +and- leads from the furnace to the digital thermostat.

Answer
Doug, The normal way these are getting their power is from the ac unit. They make 12 volt there and send it to the T-Stat. The wires that come from the furnace should still be the T-Stat wires that normally go there. You will need to provide power to the furnace possibly the way they had it before and then power to the T-Stat. Usually one wire coming from the furnace to the T-Stat is hot and the other one is to complete the circuit. I don't know why you put a 2 stage in but you don't even need to use that if you don't want to. Thanks, Bill
