RV Repair: Awning Fabric Delamination, extended warranty, winnebago

Question
I have a 2004 Winnebago with a 16ft awning and the plastic coating over the fabric is delaminating.  The plastic coating is peeling back on each edge near the arm mechanisms exposing the mesh.  The awning is on the side that gets daily sunshine, but it is less than 4 years old.  Our local dealer says this is not covered under the extended warranty.  What could be causing this and could it be a failure in the product?

Answer
Kevan, This is caused by the sun. The canvas can be replaced with a carefree fabric and they are 199.99 for any length or color except special order colors. They also make canvasses with a different material that escapes me right this minute but the vinyl is the less expensive. There isn't much out there that I would recommend to put on it to try and keep the material in new condition but you can ask at a dealer and see what they have and if you might want to use it on your next canvas. This one I would say is about out of being useful to you. Sorry that it isn't better news for you, Bill
