RV Repair: rv rm2652 fridge wont run on gas, dometic rm2652, oem boards

Question
We have a coachman with a dometic rm2652 and when we turn on the fridge in propane mode the burner lights and stays on for about 30-45 seconds then the check light comes on and it shuts off.
It works ine on AC... when we are plugged in.

Answer
The reason that the flame goes out is because it is not sensing that the flame is lit so it shuts down to avoid blowing up. On the back side of the refrigerator there is a black power control box, usually to the left as you are looking at it. From that box wires come in and go out to their various places. The place that you want to look at is either the power board or the thermocouple. If you have a meter that will read milliamps you can test the ends of it when it does light for those seconds. You should be able to read some voltage coming from the thermocouple. Off the top of my head I am not sure just how much but if you are reading voltage chances are it is good and the power board needs replaced. You can also remove the thermocouple and take it to be tested. If it is determined that your power board is what needs replaced I recommend replacing the oem black board with a Dinosaur Board. The model will be a Micro-P711. I say this because they are usually a few dollars cheaper and they have a 3 year warranty, while the oem boards only have a 1 year on them. Now if you would have said that this check light thing started out being every now and then but over time got worse I would have told you that more than likely it is the black power board and if you take your time they aren't really that hard to replace. You may need a short piece of wire to use for the extra ground on the Dinosaur, but you might not either, depending on the wiring style they have from the OEM factory. They do come with an instruction sheet and it is pretty informative. I hope this was of help to you. Thanks, Bill
