RV Repair: Ceiling, styrofoam sheets, fiberglass insulation

Question
I have a 1979 Taurus camper. The ceiling does not appear to have water damage or mold however due to ago it is starting to come down. I want to replace it however do not know for sure what to replace it with. Any suggestions? I am thinking that it needs to have some kind of R value to it so I was thinking of ripping it all down and replacing it with sheet insulation. Then to go over that paneling or something to make it look good. Looking for ideas though as I have never done it in a camper before.

Answer
You should be able to see what the manufacture was using when you pull it down. I think I would go back with just about the same thing they had whether it is fiberglass insulation or Styrofoam sheets. As for the ceiling you should put some vinyl covered paneling back on. This helps things stay longer because there is always moisture in any coach. You may even want to add some trusses to it while it is down. When you put the new panels on remember to try and have them end where the first ones did. That is to say try to stuff the panels into the side of the wall and be able to keep your moulding to a smaller size, because you will want to put moulding on the new areas.
