RV Repair: MAIN LIVING SLIDE, system sort, forward position

Question
QUESTION: 2006 GULFSTREAM INDEPENDANCE, LEFT SLIDE THAT HOUSES THE COUCH AND DINNING BOOTH, HAS BEEN STORED FOR 2 MONTHS AND HAVE FOUND THE SLIDE HAS OPENED 3-6 INCHES. SHUT THE SLIDE
12 DAYS AGO AND IT HAS OPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 INCHES, CLOSED AGAIN AND SHIFTED DRIVERS SEAT BACK, 2 DAYS LATER, IT HAS STARTED TO OPEN ABOUT 1.5 INCHES. THIS IS A CABLE DRIVEN SYSTEM. ANY INFO WOULD BR GREATLY APPRECIATED.

ANSWER: This really sounds like a hydraulic slide system that is cable assisted. The reason I say that is because with hydraulic systems they will sometimes move back out because they need bled or one of the valves is having a problem. If in fact this is strictly a cable system then there must be some sort of clutch or brake on the motor for it to stay where you put it. If so then it has gone bad or come disengaged somehow. If you would really check into it to make sure I will do the research to answer this better for you. Also if it is hydraulic try to see if it is coupled with any leveling system that you may also have.

QUESTION: i'm sorry for the miss info. This system is hydraulic and cable assisted. the only thing i can see that is in that system is the drivers seat must be in the full forward position before the main cabin slides can be operated

Answer
Ok now it sounds like one of the systems that are out today. With this problem it would be better taking it to a repair facility that has experience in these. The trouble is more likely that one of the valves that are connected to the pump is not opening or closing all the way and when this happens they will bleed off and allow things to move. More than likely it is a system that also is connected to your leveling system. Sort of an all in one system. You won't want to drive on a trip with this doing what it is because it will slip out while you are driving down the road so the first place to take it would be the repair shop. Thank you for checking to see exactly what the system was for me so I could answer you better.
