RV Repair: class c motor home roof repair, origional, class c

Question
My friend has a 14 year old class c motor home. Te wood in the space over the cab is rotted and the roof needs to be replaced. Can this be repaired? He wants to have the wood replaced. What kinds of replacements are available for the roof? The origional is fiberglass. Can this be a dyi project?

Answer
Hi Dorene.
Thats a big question with a small answer....NO.
Well maybe yes.
That area of the rig can be rebuilt and it can be done dyi. It just depends on how brave you are. The major problem is ...How far gone is it? You won't know the answer to that until you tear into it. An expert can tell from the outside but you will most likely have to open it to see.
Remember "you can't attach good wood to bad wood". So if the rot is extensive, you may not find any good wood and then you'll have to fake it. I've seen some good ones redone so good luck.
