RV Repair: tires blow out every trip, axle alignment, towable rv

Question
Hi!
We have a 2004 Jayco Eagle 12fso Pop-up. The last two times we went camping one of the tires blew out while we were driving. We always check the air pressure before any trip. Both tires were under two years old. We are thinking of carrying two spares because it keep happening. Any clues?
Thanks!

Answer
Tammy,
I am guessing that both original tires are the ones that have blown. Most towable RV's do not come with the highest grade of tire on them. If you still have the old tires and they are somewhat intact, take a look to see if the tread is worn evenly. I would monitor the tread wear on the new tires every trip.If they start to wear out on the edges or any abnormal wear I would have the axle alignment and camber checked out.If there is too much camber the tires will wear on the outer edges rapidly. If there is not enough or the trailer is being over loaded the inner edges will wear. Make sure you are not exceeding the weight rating of the trailer when you are loading it for a trip. You should not have to carry two spares unless there is something mechanically wrong with the trailer or you have really bad luck!

Thanks, Chad
