Question -
I need to service my 1983 Pace Arrow furnace.  the fan sounds like it is hitting something.  I found a service manual on line and it said to clean the squirrel cage, which is all well and good, if the manual had the instructions on how to get to the fan. I need directions on how to get to the fan. Do I have to remove the furnace?
How can I get a detailed fan service manual?
      Thanks,  Bob

Hi Bob:

I've experienced similar probems with RV's I've owned over the years. Various flying insects such as wasp, dirt dobbers, etc. build nest in the blower wheel. When you start it up, it makes a very loud noise. You will need to get into the side of the furnace to access the wheel. Its not very easy to access either. If you will send me the model number of your funrace, I will do my best to find a service manual for you.

Answer
Hi Bob:

I've been looking for a service manual for you. I found one at this address below: It is a free download too.
http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/659/DT659.pdf

I also found one on ebay for a cost of 4.99 cents plus shipping. The ebay item number is 140012721035 This auction ends august 6th.

Regarding your question wether or not you will have to remove the furnace to gain access to the blower, yes you will. After you have cleaned it, etc. I would buy some of the exhaust screens that will aleviate that problem with insects in the future. They can be obtain from a number of RV suppliers, I do know they are available at camping world. I had to purchase some of them for my furnace too.

Hope this helps with your problem,
Regards, Larry
