RV Repair: pop up camper roof, plywood sheets, pop up camper

Question
I am restoring a 1977 Bethany pop up camper.  The roof ofvthe pop up is plywood sheets inset in a heavy aluminum frame.  The entire roof is covered in a white vinyl material that is stretched over the roof and glued to the frame with a contact cement and finally attached to the frame with a spline and channel system like a screen window would use.

The roof has become permiable to water with age and there is a small 2 inch tear.  What material would you suggest replacing this with?

Would a liquid type roof be ok? I am concerned with the aesthetics of a liquid roof since unlike most rvs, this roof is always in plain sight.

thanks!

Answer
Using the rubber roofing that is common on RVs these days would be the best thing to use. You might actually be able to overlay it on the existing roof. Easy to apply, and you should be able to purchase some at a parts department of any large RV dealer. Or go to www.dicor.com
This should help,
