RV Repair: DOMETIC FRIG RM2652, gas flame, time and patience

Question
FRIG WORKS FINE IN ALL MODES, 39 DEGREES EMPTY AND 48 DEGREES FULL AT75 OUTSIDE TEMP.ON GAS FLAME STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I WANT TO LOWER THE TEMP. ABOUT 7 OR 8 DEGREES WHEN LOADED OR HOT WEATHER. WHEN I UNPLUG THE TEMP. SENSOR ON THE BACK ON THE MODUEL BOARD THE TEMP. WILL DROP TO 25 DEGREES EMPTY AND MAYBE JUST RIGHT WHEN FULL. QUESTION ?  WHAT DOES THE TEMP SENSOR CONTROL AND WILL IT HURT ANYTHING RUNNING IT UNPLUGED. IS THERE AWAY TO CHEAT IT? I HAVE TRIED MOVING TEMP SENSOR AROUND AND EVEN PUT TAPE OVER END OF SENSOR .  WHEN IT GOES TO 25 AND I PLUG SENSOR BACK IN FLAME GOES OUT  AS IT SHOULD AND COMES BACK ON  WHEN IT WARMS BACK UP . DONT KNOW HOW SENSOR WORKS AS FLAME NEVER GOES OUT IN NORMAL OPERATION. GARRY THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND PATIENCE . BOB IN COLO.

Answer
Bob,  The temp sensor (known as a thermister) changes resistance with temperature.  For a time, Dometic offered a "thermister adjuster" which was a resister packaged with ends that would just plug in between the factory plug.  you should be able to adjust the temperature slightly by moving the end of the thermister up or down on the fin that it is clipped to inside the fridge.  With the thermister unplugged, the control module runs in by-pass or wide open mode. This would not hurt anything as far as the controls on the fridge, but will eventually freeze every thing.  Your freezer should be around 0 degrees or less.  Also, check your venting outside for blockage and proper baffle placement between the side of the trailer and the back of the fridge.
