Saab Repair: steering rack, knowledgeable folks, repair options

Question
Hi Rick, I have a 90 900 Turbo convertible w/200K miles. I love the car but am deciding on repairs vs new car at this point. I have a leaking turbo and a leaking steering rack. Basically what is the down side of not repairing the steering rack and continuing to add steering fluid (4-6 ounces per year). Also any opinion on cost and or repair options for the turbocharger.

Answer
4-6 oz per year is not much, if you keep an eye on it it should be OK. The potential downside is loss of power steering, if the fluid level gets low enough. You will still be able to steer the car. As far as the turbo goes, expect mucho dollars there. What do you mean by leaking? Is it losing oil into the exhaust? You may be able to get a used one from goldwing or similar places.
