Saab Repair: Saab 9000 runs real rough, wont even idle, ntc resistor, 4 ohms

Question
Hi there,
I am a self employed mechanic that took on an engine swap on an 88 9000.  It didn't run all that grat when I got it and the customer wanted an engine put in.  Used, of course.  Well, when it came time to start it up, it was very hard to get going.  It sounded like it would try to run on one cyl, then two and then three....I'm not sure how long this engine sat around because the fuel in the rail smelled like varnish...ick.  Anyway from what I can tell it doesn't sound like it's firing on all cyl but all 4 are getting fuel and spark but I don't think it's being metered correctly.  Suspected bad air-to-air so I bypassed it and put the MAF right in line to the throttle body with various piping from the old engine.  Some improvement but not much.  I don't want to condem the MAF but, I'd feel better if I knew how to test it or any sensor. Thanks a mill!

Answer
All I can find in the Saab bible for the MAF sensor is that there should be 380 ohms between pins 3 and 6. I have a schematic but it only shows that there are 6 wires, pin 2 is where power goes in, pin 4 is chassis ground, and the remaining 4 pins make up a bridge cicuit of some sort.

Other sensors: Throttle angle transmitter, on the intake, is just a microswitch.

The NTC resistor, for temp info to the computer, should be 5800ohms at 32F, 2600 ohms at room temp, and 180 ohms at 212F.

Oxy sensor, 4 ohms between two white wies, and between 0 and 1 volt out, engine running, between the black wire and ground.

Hope this helps.
