Saturn Repair: !995 SL1 gear shifter issue, advanced auto parts, luck chris

Question
Okay... how hard are they to install?  I am fairly mechanically inclined.  Certainly from the interior it looks like a no brainer... but once I get on the other side of the firewall I have no idea what to expect.  Are there any special tools required?

Hi,

Well, we managed to fix the problem with the plastic clip that broke inside the sifter... now the main cable of the shifter can come apart from the plastic piece looks like it just slipped out... not sure what held it in.  At any rate, do you have a fix for this?

Answer -
Eugene,
My only suggestion to you now is to go and buy a set of shifter cables.  If you don't want to shell out $400 for the dealer's set, go to Advanced Auto Parts.  They have a set for a little over $100.  I've tried to repair cables many times, with no luck.

Answer
Eugene,
No special tools needed, just lots of grunting and sweating.  There is no easy way to do it.  Just look at the connections on the transmission, they are color coded (black and white).  Remember how they came off and you should be good to go.
