Saturn Repair: 1992 Saturn SL2 Automatic Transmission, 1992 saturn sl2, bearer of bad news

Reverse in my transmission doesn't work. When You try to put it in reverse it makes loud noises. The previous owner put the car in reverse while going forward 25 mph. Can it be fixed or should I just replace it? If replace it, where can I find affordable used transmission. I live in Nevada.

Hi Jacek,
I am by no means a Tranny Expert and would never try to fool any one that I am...but, unfortunately, you'll be replacing this one...more than likely, a spline was sheared by the 25MPH shift...that is almost certainly death to a tranny.

The trans may be difficult to replace yourself so I recommend you have someone skilled in the replacement do it for you.
Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news...but I think you already knew the answer to this one.
