Saturn Repair: Starting problem 94SL2, battery cables, definate answer

Question
Simple problem, I hope ?  When I turn the ignition key to start, nothing happens. No clicking ( like when a solenoid goes), no slow starting, nothing. I have power to all accesories, and there is plenty of juice in the battery. What are the possibilities? It's a standard, so ... Clutch switch? Can I bypass it to check? It's probably something simple, but I can't figure it out.

Answer
Hi Gerry,
Clutch Switch, maybe BUT  I can't help you test it...it isn't something I have done and I am not sure where the switch is positioned on the 1994 Manual (I have only worked on Automatics, surprizingly!)
OK, with that said, as simple as this sounds, the older Saturns have a huge problem with bad Battery Cables!  I know what you are going to say "the car's accessories have power!" But, trust me, the cables corroed from the inside and will prevent it from turning over or even clicking...it is a cheap fix (even if that isn't the problem...they need to be replaced by now). They can pass small currents but large currents won't pass through the corrosion.
Outside of that, I don't have an answer for ya'.
Best of Luck!  Sorry i couldn't give you a definate answer.  Let me know how it worked out by leaving feedback comments here at the all experts website.
