Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): flywheel magnet

Question
I have a 16hp Briggs and Stratton engine on my yardman riding mower and it had no spark so I replaced the coil and still no spark. Does the magnet in the flywheel ever need replacing and if not is the mag/coil the only thing that supplies spark?

Never saw a magnet that needed to be replaced.

Dis-connect the small wire on the ignition module and check for spark. I would remove the spark plug to verify spark because if the engine starts with the small wire dis-connected you will not be able to shut-off the engine with the key switch.
