Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Pressure Washer, briggs and stratton, pressure washer

Question
QUESTION: I just replaced the carb on my Briggs and Stratton 6.5 HP quantum pressure washer. It ran great, no problems. When it ran out of gas, I refilled it with fresh gas, now problems are happening. Runs only when choked, then shuts down. Runs with minimum power when choked, but when you put it to run, it stalls.

ANSWER: The problem you described is almost always fixed by cleaning the carb.  Do you have an air compressor in order to clean the carb?

QUESTION: Yes. And I also have some aerosol carb cleaner.

Answer
I would start by removing, dis-assembling, and cleaning the carb with compressed air from the air compressor and aerosol carb cleaner.

If carb cleaning does not fix the problem then the other trick we do for pumps is remove the pump and see how the engine runs.  If it runs fine without the pump then we know there is a problem with the pump.  Pretty simple but we see this pretty often.  Most of the time we just end up replacing the pump as many are not repairable.
