Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): testing a stator !, stator, growler

Hi Eric ! I would like to know if it is possible to check a lawnmower stator that's not on a  ?

Answer
You can ohm for shorts and opens.  Most electric rebuilding shops have a growler for testing insulation indicated by shorted coils.  You might try your local Yellow Pages for electric motor rebuilders.

Do you have an engine you can install the stator on to test it?
