i have honda lawnmower model#hr215ksxa serial#mzam-6287002. the mower dies when i try to engage blade. if i engage blade very very slowly mower will stay running and let me mow.

You will need to clean out the Carburetor as what is happening is that as soon as you put a load on the engine the governor is telling the carburetor we need more fuel,the carburetor is not putting enough fuel into the engine when  the load is needed. Does this also happen when you try to mow a area where the grass is taller ? If you start to run the mower when the load is needed it should pick up,so when you slowly engage the blades you are giving the engine a small time to recuperate. Try removing the carburetor and cleaning or better yet rebuild it with new gaskets ,seats and diaphragms.
