Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): My JD s1742 transmission is froze..., shaft bearings, wheel bearings

Question
Hi, my question is similar to the question here: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Small-Engines-Lawn-1746/Scott-S1742-Lawn-Tractor.htm

Though, my problem goes farther than that. Everything described in that man's problem I had. Only thing is, my belt(to my knowledge) was not slipping. 2 winters ago, I let it sit outside partly covered...Before putting it there the tranny still turned...When taking from where I stored it, the tranny is completely frozen. I don't know if it just seized or what. Please and thank you in advance for the help. Please let me know anything you might need to know in addition to better assist me.

Thanks,

Brian Currie

have you checked to make sure that the oil level is correct? Also when a tractor get left outside some times the wheel bearings or the main shaft bearings get frozen from rust.A lot of times water gets in the trans axles and will rust the gears check the oil to see what it looks like.
