Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 20hp kohler valve cover, bolts, screws

Question
What I have is a valve cover leaking oil and I tried to change bolt and tighten but it will not tighten, I have tried four different bolts and none will stop spinning. The bolt starts to feel tight then loosens up again even though no threads are exposed. Will a new valve cover fix this problem?  Or is something bigger wrong?

Sounds like the threads in the head are stripped.  You will probably have to drill and tap larger holes but I would heli-coil the head so you can use the same screws again.

Do you have a tap set or heli-coil?  You can Google heli-coil if this is new to you.
