Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere GT225, wont move, open case

I have a blown motor in my jd. the motor is a CV15S they no longer make this motor as of 2010. the spec no. is 41571 ser no is 3104004763. there are no holes in the case. the rod is busted and piston wont move. didnt open case up thinking if i have to sell it . open to suggestions. I can find other cv15s motors but the spec no. is different. can you suggest other motors or a remedy. thank you, Bill

One of the challeges with JD is they special order some of their engines.

$900.00 is a little pricy. Have you checked around local repair shops for estimates on how much a rebuild would cost?  

Have you ever re-built an engine?
